2017 Monthly Design Challenge

Our 2016 Designer of the Month series was so successful, that we’ve decided to carry it forward into 2017, but with a twist.  Announcing the FGYCo MONTHLY DESIGN CHALLENGE – the monthly design contest where you have the chance to have your pattern published on our website (and be paid), be interviewed for our blog and win a $100 Feel Good Yarn Company gift certificate!  Anyone can enter – you don’t have to be a published designer. In fact, we encourage those who have been wanting to dip their toe into the design scene to participate.

Here’s how it works:
• At the beginning of every month we will introduce a “design challenge” project using one of our SilverSpun® yarns.
• Designers will have approximately 2 1/2 months to complete the project*.
• Entries will be voted on by the general public. All entries will be posted anonymously to allow participants a fair chance at winning.
• The design with the most votes wins.
*Designs previously published either on-line or in print are not eligible for this contest (that includes Instagram & Ravelry.)

What you could win:
• The winning design will be featured on our website and all of our social media outlets (see below for more details)
• The winning designer will be interviewed on our blog.
• The winning designer will receive a $100 FGYCo gift certificate.
• The second & third place winners will receive $75 & $50 gift certificates respectively, but will not have their pattern published by Feel Good Yarn Co.

If you wish to participate you must:
1. Purchase the required SilverSpun® yarn.
2. Design & knit/crochet the Challenge project.
3. Send us a photo of the finished project suitable for publication.

If you win you must:
1. Supply FGYCo with a formatted PDF version of the pattern.
2. Supply FGYCo with additional photos of the finished project for publication purposes.

How to enter:
• Purchase the required amount of SilverSpun® yarn for the Challenge.
• Let us know you wish to participate by filling out this form.

How to vote:
• Once all of the submissions are in there will be a link on our website that will take you to the voting site. We will announce when voting is open via all of our social media outlets and our website.
• Just for kicks we will randomly choose one voter from each monthly campaign who’ll win a copy of the winning pattern and enough SilverSpun® yarn to make it.

Additional details:

  • The winning pattern will be available for sale on our website.  For every pattern sold via our website we will pay 50% commission (most likely $2.50). Payments will be made quarterly via PayPal if over $10.  If less than $10, payment will be made the next quarter.  Payments will continue until we decide to no longer carry the pattern (but it will be at least through 2017).
  • All winners will retain the rights to their design and are free to publish one month from the time of release on our website.
  • Regarding photographs.  Please take the time to take clear, clean, well lit and in focus photographs.  The photo you submit will play a big part in determining if people vote for your design or not.  A great photo usually garners lots of votes!
  • The submission photo should be formatted as a square so we can easily post to Instagram.
  • Only designs using SilverSpun® yarns are eligible for this contest.
